Whoever said that being a model is glamorous?  Whoever said that doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.  Modeling may be fun, exciting and exhilarating for some people, but GLAMOROUS? Nah!  I don’t think so.  We are just your average Joes, or should I say average Janes.

I have been in the modeling industry for years and I can say that it’s not really all that.  People from outside my industry just see the glitz and the glamour for being in the fashion industry, BUT is it really?  Outsiders don’t know half of what happens in a shoot or a runway show.  They only see the finished product: a beautiful editorial or a successful runway show.  But what about behind the scenes and backstage?  They don’t see models dressing and undressing backstage like the speed of light just so they can enter the runway at the right time; stylists that carry heavy luggage filled with shoes, clothes and accessories; makeup artists and hairstylists retouching the models faces over and over again; and photographers in the most awkward and back-breaking positions just to capture that ONE perfect shot.

I don’t really understand why a majority of the people outside the fashion industry think of it as glamorous.  In fact, the fashion industry has a weird sense of appreciating beauty.  Heavy and dark makeup with wild hair is considered as avant garde, bizarre clothing as haute couture and odd-looking models as high fashion.  Frankly, if you ask me, it borders insanity already.  The fashion industry is one crazy world indeed.  Still, many people will kill just to be in here.

The Unglamorous Model will take you behind the scenes and into the life of these so-called glamorous people.  Here you will see models, stylists, photographers and the rest of the average Joes and average Janes of the fashion and modeling industry.  Join me as I take you on a journey into this crazy world and see for yourself how unglamorous we can be.
